December 1999

December saw empire-builder return to live action after a notable break. We played three Glasgow shows with the likes of Sweep the Leg Johnny and Fretlin. No new songs, but after our absence of three months lots of people thought there was! Another review has been added, it is from the Glasgow based webzine underpop.

November 1999

Not much to report this month, just a few additions to the website. There is now an images page, a sounds page, and there have been a few additions to the reviews page. Speak soon!

October 1999

We supported Urusei Yatsura on two dates of their recent tour (Dundee and Edinburgh). Thanks to Urusei for asking us to play (even if they did try to break our guitars!).
We also had an 'in-store' appearance at the Missing Records rockfest, much to the bemusement of the shoppers.

September 1999

We spent five days in Toward (west coast of Scotland) recording some tracks with Phil and Matt from Reynolds. Phil's mobile studio, place position, survived the drive and ferry ride and was used to record 7 new songs. This seemed to go down well with the local seal population. No official release planned, but 'Syntax Deficit' will be available for download from the sounds page (up soon).

August 1999

The Waters of the Orient EP has been getting good radio play, with Beat Patrol (Radio Scotland) and the Evening Session in Scotland (Radio 1) both playing the title track. The inimitable John Peel has played both 'Waters of the Orient' and 'I Am Vasco Da Gama' (although waters was played at the wrong speed: Steven doesn't usually sing that high).
We played the 13th Note Club (Glasgow, UK) at the end of last month. Headlining that night were Bardo Pond.

July 1999

Our first EP, Waters of the Orient, was released by Gringo Records on the 12th July 1999. The three tracks are 'Waters of the Orient', 'Trade in Fiction' and 'I Am Vasco Da Gama.'
